Dathí Cup – Optimist Teams Racing Regatta

The Dathí Cup is a high-energy Optimist Teams Racing regatta designed to introduce and develop teams racing skills in a fun, competitive environment.

Format
2 v 2 teams racing, with teams drawn randomly at the start of the day. Open to Intermediate and Open Fleet sailors only.

What to Expect
A full day of short-course, fast-paced racing supported by an on-water jury, providing real-time rule calls and learning opportunities. The format is designed to build tactical awareness, communication, and teamwork — all critical components of successful teams racing.

Why Sail
This is a great opportunity to:

  • Learn the fundamentals of teams racing in a practical setting
  • Develop skills and decision-making under pressure
  • Meet and sail with a broader group of fellow sailors
  • Prepare for selection into state teams racing squads ahead of next year’s Nationals at Royal Brighton Yacht Club

Prizes
Trophies and medals will be awarded to top performers.

About the Event
The Dathí Cup is named in honour of David “Dathí” White, a strong advocate for the teams racing format and its role in developing well-rounded sailors.

A fun, inclusive day on the water — and an ideal entry point into teams racing.
